Notice Board

A date for your diary. On Saturday 19th of August we are planning a "Summer Barbecue" at the South Windermere Sailing Club Clubhouse at Fell Foot. We would really like to welcome our many new members and also have a get together with the sailors. We will be sharing the new Watersports Centre with them soon and it would be great to get to know them better. The cost will be £5 for food. Bring your own booze. We hope that Chris Fellows will be bringing his fantastic Spanish guitar group "Fandango" but that is yet to be confirmed. Families are all welcome so you can say thank you to all those rowing widows, widowers and orphans. We do need to know numbers so if you can reply to this that would be great and I will collate the responses. It promises to be a great night. Time 6.30 ish.

Only 4 weeks to go! We so far have 15 members signed up. Is anyone else up for the challenge? It looks hopeful that we will have other clubs joining us, so perhaps 6 boats on the water.

The names on the list are: Adrian Downe Karin Downe Chris Stevens David Oates Jackie Fay Jo Cleary Jodie Hannon John Dawson Lesley Sharp Liz Ashburn Philip Brook Robyn Barclay Sam Hambley Sheelagh O'Brien and Tricia Donson. Please let me know if you would like to add or delete your name. There will be plenty of opportunity to swap in out of boats and in and out of the cox seat so no one needs to row the full 19 miles if they don't want to.

I would really like to delegate one job. We are planning tea and cakes at the finish at YMCA Lakeside and I would be really grateful if someone could volunteer to organise that.

Thanks

David O

SWSC are holding a Ceilidh on the evening of 1st July in the National Trust cafe next door to the boathouse, to which we've been invited. There will be live music, bar and food (including veggie option). £10 per head for adults, £5 for children. Send Liz an email if you're interested (windermererccaptain@gmail.com), and she'll get the necessary tickets.
